Carol Fastuca was born the fourth of ten children. Her father was in the army, so the early part of her life was spent in various cities around the country.  The family finally settled in a suburb of Pittsburgh, where she grew up. 

After receiving an MFA in painting, Fastuca began teaching Painting and Drawing to university students. In Fastuca’s words, “Though my experience was in studio arts, the students and I shared the fundamentals of making art and design and talked a lot about the process of making.  It was an inspiring experience. Also, During this time I was fortunate to teach in London and Florence.  I traveled extensively during my time abroad, from Australia to the Middle East and all over Europe.”

After leaving the university system, Carol Fastuca started her own design business, painting murals and landscape commissions.  Moving back to southeastern Pennsylvania 20 years ago has inspired her daily to discover the landscape right in her own backyard.

To quote the artist: “I am enamored with the changing light and color of the sky and landscape and the curious personalities of the cows that populate it. I am endlessly challenged by its beauty and how to translate it into paint. It all begins with an idea.”
